What are the solutions?

Continuing Diligence at the Federal, State and Local Levels.
We can continue to be diligent and protect our water supplies.  Indeed, there have been many steps since 9/11 to do just that.

However, in the event of bioterrorism of water, the presence and identification of potential contaminants can take more than a day. By that time a positive identification is made, the population has been exposed.

There is much research on finding instant ways to identify bio-terror in the drinking water and progress is being made on this front.

In the meantime, key hospital staff have been trained to spot symptoms of possible bio-terrorism in patients after they are ill and under a physicians care.

What do the Authorities Recommend?
FEMA, the American Red Cross and the American Water Works Association (AWWA) all recommend that in the event of a water emergency to use steam distillation to purify the water before you drink it.

The Federal Government also recommends that the population have a back-pack ready to go in the event of a sudden evacuation and to have ample drinking water stored at home and work.

What Can You Do?
Whether from natural calamities or from bio-terrorism of the water supplies, there are good reasons to make sure you take steps in advance of these potential eventualities by having:

  • a water treatment system that will protect you in good times and in bad. The right time to get a steam-distillation system is now. Don't wait until after the fact - it simply may be too late.
  • an adequate supply of safe and pure water on hand.
